Man wounded in night attack at Campbell Brandy Shop
David Smith, a Scotsman, was committed to Newgate for a brutal assault on Mr Campbell and his wife at their dockside brandy shop near Tower Hill. He stabbed them in twelve places and dragged a dagger across Mrs Campbell, after plotting murder to rob the house and flee to Holland. The couple lie gravely injured as Smith was captured after fleeing to a neighboring house.
