Extralt of a Letter from Beard the Griffin at Cape Tres ponte
An April 17 1722 letter from Cape Tres Ponte on the Gold Coast reports Dutch and English naval actions. A Swallow Man of War pursued captured pirates near Whiddah and Cape Lopez, retook two ships, and sustained no loss. Letters from Barbadoes note 100 pirates condemned and Captain Ogle to return to England. Subsequent items describe political appointments, royal proclamations, legal matters, private quarrels, cargo lists from Bombay ships, and lottery prize tallies.
