Petitions for Charters Dismissed by Lords Justices in Council
Whitehall reports that many petitions for Letters Patents to enable various fisheries, trades, and manufacturing ventures were reviewed. After mature consideration the Board of Trade advised dismissal of the principal petitions including grand fishery, whale fishery, Greenland trade, linen and sailcloth manufacture, and insurance schemes, with several other incorporations rejected or postponed. Also notes private letters from Paris and market quotes for South Sea stock and related securities.
