Fragmented 18th Century Patent Remedy and War Treasure Notice
An early advertisement offers a dubious tonic claim to cure barrenness and imbecility by altering bodily humours and invigorating the spirits. It announces sale at a Strand toy shop and a Rose and Crown, with a reward for returning missing soldiers from Colonel Aostrother’s regiment. Details name multiple men, their ages and descriptions, and list a bounty paid by Edmund Strudwick at Covent Garden.

Fire extinguishing machine trial in Paris with German inventor
Paris witnessed a demonstration of a new fire fighting machine on December 12 in the presence of Cardinal Dubois and other officials. The device, mounted on wheels and containing water and a grenade, damped a blaze at a hut but may be limited for upper-floor fires. The Dutchess Dowager of Orleans’ corpses were laid in the Abbey of St Denis per her wishes.
