Mutiny quelled as galley slaves are punished
The mutineers among galley slaves have been taken or killed. Up to 36 are said to face execution. Sailors stay in the galleys while soldiers are freed except eight who feared a revolt. Officers remain under arrest in the Castle with the Commandant allowed to mourn in town. An Ebplifi squadron appeared off the port, including a 64 gun ship four frigates a sloop and a cutter with 17 merchant vessels bound to Naples Méeffina and Smyrna.
