In a vivid letter from Paris dated November 3 1793 the writer narrates the frenzied mood around the guillotine. He mocks the Convention clerks and clergy while praising the revolutionary zeal and the fallen leaders. He laments tyranny, cites Bard and Johnson, and closes with a pledge of fidelity to a friend in conscience and humanity.
At St James's the King held a Levee then a Council with Lord Coancentor Archbishop of Canterbury and other officials. Sir John Jervis sailed from St Meens to join transports and head for the West Indies while reports note fever subsiding in Philadelphia and shortages of coal at Shields.
Law report from the Court of King’s Bench dated November 29 notes Mr. Bower obtaining a Rule to show why a Criminal information should not be filed against Owen Snell for sending a challenge to Mr. Cochran.
Daniel applies for a rule to show cause why Davies and partner Keirnax should not refund 12s 15s in costs and respond to affidavits. The case centers on a bill due on Saturday, nonpresentation, and Daniel’s arrest Monday after attempting to pay the bill. a sheriff’s officer and a drawer join the proceedings as they seek repayment and dispute prior demands.
In court Mr. Cunningham the attorney appeared with bail after commitment till bail. Robins, named by Cunningham, faced accusations of fraud tied to a 7500 debt. Lord Kenyon ordered Robins remanded due to an attached judgment and Cunningham kept in custody for insufficient bail.
Mr Justice Colpex noted that actions on policies of insurance often incurred high expenses and questioned who should pay costs.
