Reservoir Burst Destroys Norwich Water Plan
Norwich on Sunday morning a large water body moved from the New Mills to a reservoir in Chapel-field. The embanked reservoir holding 50 to 60 000 barrels of water broke due to veins in the earth and created several deep excavations over an area of six to twenty feet wide. The incident defeats the city plan to provide pure river water and serve as a fire resource during frost weeks.
