General Post-Office bulletin reports a post-boy robbed between Berkhampstead and Hemel Hempstead last night while delivering mail from Ailesbury to London. The robber tied the rider, stole the mail and horse, and fled on foot with the horse. Rewards totaling 200 pounds plus an official pardon await the discoverer and convict. Rochdale Intended Canal Meeting Minutes 1791
At a May 20 1791 meeting of the committee for the Manchester to Sowerby Bridge canal in Lancaster attendees including Mr Shaw and others resolved to rescind the prior subscription cap and set a new total of 200,000 subject to further directions. The next meeting was adjourned to Rochdale at the Rae- Buck on June 16 at eleven in the forenoon with Mr Matriarc the Rae- Buck hosting. The chairman was thanked for his impartial attention by RA. Shuttleworth, Clerk.
