The Court of King’s Bench ruled that a sworn Substitute under the Cavalry Act who was later arrested for debt was not a soldier under the Mutiny Act. The application to discharge him from custody with common bail was granted. The ruling applied to others in his distuation, and the Rule was discharged.
In Paris June 13, a lawsuit records a foreign defendant accused of misrepresenting a purchase plan for Fazard's Riding Stables in Park Lane. The plaintiff lent 700 pounds to cover a mortgage, but the deed and rent-charge were never finalized.
