The night before the burglary all items were secured in a storage room which was found broken in the morning. A watchman saw Willians at five o'clock with a basket containing the loot. he dropped the basket when questioned. Willians claimed the basket lay near a hay-stack and he took it unaware of consequences. The jury returned a guilty verdict.
