Public informed that Parliament grants an aid for war and funds. Books opened at the Bank of England cashier for payments of assessed taxes and voluntary contributions with options for quarterly or six instalment plans. Details specify due dates through 1799 and 1799. By order of the Court of Divercity.

The case concerns Peters and Co. vs Dunlop and Co. from 1785 in St Mary Axe and the Borough. Peters and Co. drew and accepted bills. Dunlop and Co. paid none before bankruptcy, and after settlement Peters and Co. seek to recover a surplus from the point of contingencies and deficient payments under prior acceptances.
Sokn Williams alias Anthony Parguin sued for libel. jury returned verdict for the defendant. Mr Erdine moved for a new trial but the court refused to set aside the verdict and ordered no new trial.
The accused appeared in court this morning to justify bail at 3200. He claimed assets of about 40,000 and an income of 4,000 a year. He listed charges on the Marquis of Donegal estate at 25,600 and on the late Sir J. Danvers estate at 25,000. He asserted no known debts, hinted at an affidavit in the King's Bench to sell property, and said he had sold a property worth 17,000 to cover Mr. Philips Good's demands and legal costs, but after disposing it he lost track of the amounts.

Richard Rathbone was tried for an assault with intent to commit a rape on Elizabeth Sparrow and acquitted after a near nine hour trial. Prosecution and three witnesses testified to the prisoner's identity, while eight disinterested witnesses supported his alibi placing him at Windsor. The jury, in a doubtful case, returned a verdict of not guilty.
