From Paris papers Vienna Dec 21 reports Field Marshal Lieutenant Count de Hohenzollern leading four divisions including French regiments and two squadrons of the Sth regiment of huilarg to attack near Novi. They forced enemy to abandon and seized Novi, pursuing to Gavi, then investing the fortress. About 300 prisoners taken as losses. Also outlines a coalition plan with Suworow commanding 100000 men and Russian led actions into Franche Compte Alsace Provence and Dauphiny, with England reconsidering a 30,000 man aid.

Afton-upon-Trent girl named Lambert was drowned along with two Mr Chambers of Wiln horses and a cart in the Derwent river. To avoid wading she rode in a cart, the flood broke ice on the bridge, the horses reared, the cart struck the railing, the bridge gave way, and the group fell into the river with the rapid current preventing rescue.
