Letter and loss lead to tragic Birmingham case
In Birmingham on November 2 1791 Gasret Day delivered a bank note letter diverted to London that never reached Mr Mathison, leaving a widow and children. Although the widow later recovered the 3201, a Newgate letter from Sam Moore dated February 12 1794 admits destroying the 3201 note and seeks forgiveness, noting the sender died in distress.

Edinburgh records show Friday morning around five oclock a blaze consuming the Trot Church in Glastow. Despite residents' efforts the ancient structure was totally destroyed. A pair of candlesticks reportedly from the parish were found near the grate after the fire.
