In the 1798 notice the Bank of England sets forth funds for affeested taxes and voluntary contributions. Books open at the cashier’s office with options to pay in instalments across four to six instalments through April 1799. By order of the Court of Directors, Robbery Best, Secretary.
Law report from the Court of King's Bench describes A v B where the plaintiff sued for trespass after alleged breaking in and stealing goods. The defendant claimed the plaintiff's act of bankruptcy and absence justified his actions. At the Affizes a jury verdict for the plaintiff of 27 pounds was returned, with a rule to set aside the verdict and a hearing noted.
