Public Office and Highway Robberies Reported at Drury Lane
Yesterday 19 men and women were brought before Sir William Aververow after a search warrant at the Black Dog public hall in Drury Lane. Several were admitted to daily or committed as disorderly persons. John Wilson was charged with attempting to rob Robert King on the highway near Kensington. The prosecutor, attacked after a walk home, shouted murder, a publican and another man intervened, and Wilson was secured. A patrol later pursued a robber on the Epping Forest road who fled into the woods, where officers captured him after a short chase. Gerrard confessed thefts and was fully committed for trial.
