Furnishing Case Ends With Plaintiff’s Full Demand
A young man sought to furnish a house in Devonshire street and was referred to the defendant by the plaintiff. The father and son owned the house and acted as trustees. Goods including carpets were supplied on credit to the father, who claimed the son’s consent. After months the father and son quarrelled over payment and the goods were auctioned for more than charged. The auctioneer paid the money to the defendant after indemnification. The jury found the defendant liable to the plaintiff for the full amount of the demand, verdict for plaintiff 3891 15s 11d.
