London Evening Miscellany of April 10 18th Century Notes

A rocky compilation reports on an attempted assassination plot attributed to an unnamed wretch who planned his own coup de grace with a large knife and a pistol. Major Lisenhara allegedly authored an anonymous death threat to the King of Swepen, while Princess Theresa of Naples becomes the spouse of the new King of Hungary. Remarks on the Queen’s treasurer appointment, abbey music meetings, and a future abolition of man killing are mixed with essays on political philosophy, social order, and the value of peasant life. The column covers a royal gossip, a court case about a ship’s captain charged with murdering a negro girl, and lottery club schemes in Underedge.

Rumors place the Prussian king ill, Empress Elizabeth in danger, and concern grows over Russian port arrivals.
