The Lad of the Hills at Wicklow Mines theatre review

A Dublin theatre notice praises The Lad of the Hills as an Irish pastoral with boorish overtones and thin sentiment. It lauds the opera’s chorus and Mr Sarero for musical affect though notes out of tune singing by Mrs Mountain and performance flaws from several actors. The critique mocks the plot and mocks Townessonp while condemning fragmented jokes and a sad overture.
