The House debated Bank of England credit, ministerial loans, and Irish governance. Sheridan pressed for copies of Bank papers, urged urgent measures, and warned against delaying remedies to restore public credit amid economic strain.
On this day Bitubard and Abeck arrived with the French privateer Amille of St. Malo commanded by Citoyen Zevent carrying 14 guns and 54 men. It was captured after a chase of eight hours near the Gasket as La Suftisante brig was taken, the privateersmen threw over guns and hauled down their flag during the retreat. The ship’s crew had been at sea five days and this is the third privateer captured by Lieutenant Exitor, earning his lugger the nickname the Little Indefatigable.
