The body of George Armstrong of Goodwater was found about two and a half miles south of Macoun last Sunday. A 22 calibre rifle and a note bearing license number 6606 were found nearby. An inquest is pending as police investigate the fatality.
Postmortem on Tuesday shows a bullet wound to the head as the cause of death. The shot appeared fired from behind with a rifle of larger calibre than the weapon found near the body. The deceased had no known relatives or friends in Ontario, and no clear reason for being in the vicinity. Police pursue movements from Saturday and consider the possibility the body was moved there.
The Estevan Red Cross reports the re election of president Mrs A W Rodgers for a third term by a full ballot. The group urges women to join and support efforts as volunteers. Juniors plan vegetable sales for a bazaar and a Teen age Red Cross will organize Friday evening in ODE rooms. Donations are acknowledged from several supporters and items donated include bags towels and pillowcases.
