Old creamery torn down for new townhouse projectThe old Sooth Mountain Creamery building on 40A west of Middletown has long been an eyesore to the community.Many years ago the building was used as a creamery turning local farmers* cream into butter and employing a number of people from the Middletown area.Hie old creamery, which has remained vacant for at least 25 years, is being tom down. Michael S. Milliner of Milliner Construction originally received approval to restore the building for apartments, but changed his plans in order to accommodate the preference of Middletown residents Milliner’s new plans call for the removal of the old building to make way for Creamery Row, a project of 13 townhouses Middletown burgess BUI Williams said be is pleased with the project. “For the past 25 years Middletown has been wanting to get rid of the old creamery building. The townhouses Milliner is going to construct will be a nice addition to the west end of Middletown.**The construction will be supervised by Dave Wickham of Milliner Construction, who is eager to begin work on the townhomes. “As usual, the project will be constructed with much attention to quality and energy efficiency. “FredericktomeBealtyChristopher Benjamin, project architect, designed the complex in a traditional style. “We wanted a look that would be a continuation of the flavor of Middletown. We concen* trated on aspects sucb as roof lines, windows and entrances. The townhomes have been given their own architectural identity, yet they blend in well with the other homes on Main Street”The homes will be approximately 1,300 square feet with lull walkout basements. There will be options such as fireplaces and upgraded finishes available to the purchasers in order to customize their homes, with base prices in the 30s.
