'Diamonds salute the 1950sseller “Little Darlin’ ”, The Diamonds became one of the hottest groups around, recording hitThe Diamonds Vocal Band, a group with a string of hits in the '50s and ’60s who recorded the theme song for the hit TV series “Happy Days”, will perform at the Rites of Autumn ’86, Lynnwood’s fine arts and fine foods festival, slated for September 6 and 7.The group began their singing career as a gospel quartet in 1953. After teaming up with manager Nat Goodman, they became a rock ’n roll sensation with their first hit song “Church Bells”.After the multi-million dollarafter hit through 1961. Included in their list of gold record hits are “The Stroll”, “Silhouettes”, “Church Bells May Ring”, “One Summer Night”, “Walkin’ Along” and many others.As was the case with many '50s and 60s sensations, The Diamonds retired, only emerging to do the occasional oldies concert for most of the next fifteen years.In 1976, through the urging of their agent, The Diamonds reemerged with bass singer John Felton at the helm. Due to the tremendous response to The Diamonds Show, they once again became a demanded commoditythroughout Nevada lounges and to every major oldies showcase throughout the country.Following Joh Felton’s work on the soundtrack for the “Happy Days show, The Diamonds were shot once again into the mainstream of show business.Soon after, The Diamonds expanded their entertainment entity by creating new business opportunities through commercials, new recordings and various oldies showcases.Over the years, The Diamonds have appeared on almost all of the network variety programs including Ed Sullivan, Johny Carson and Merv Griffin.After the untimely death of John Felton in a plane crash in 1982, bass player Ron Neuman was asked to reorganize the group and continue the tradition of The Diamonds. He has not put together The Diamonds Vocal Band as a tribute to their friend and fellow performer John Felton.With the help of recording artist and comedian Jim Manning, a superb entertainer from the Northwest, The Diamonds Vocal Band has preserved the genuine sound of John Felton’s Diamonds and continues to excite audiences with the nostalgic upbeat sounds of the '50s and ’60s.The Diamonds Vocal Band is scheduled to perform at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 6 at the Rites of Autumn festival at the Lynnwood Shopping Center, 196th and Highway 99 in Lynnwood. Admission is free.
