Houston has recently sent a force of about 93 men to visit the Indians lying north between Red river and the white settlements to reclaim all plunder that may be fonnd amongthem, and to ascertain if they have hostile intention or not towards the Texians; in other words, as I have no doubt, to commit such outrages under color of their purposes as will provoke the Indians to acts that may give the Texian General a pretence to pounce upon them, and be the means of drawing Gen. Gaines to the western side of that imaginary lim , the Sabine, to protect the Texians from tne Hostile inroads ofour Indians! This is a favorite measure with Houston, and he hopes to succeed in it, by the well known facility of General Gaines in listening to the reports which have been brought to him repeatedly since he firslarrived at Fort Jessup last spring. 'Tis sertain as the noon day that it is in violation of our relations with Mexico is equivalent to a declaration of war on our part.— On what ground it is pretended to be justified, 1 cannot imagine. I have been induced sometimes 10 believe that occasson for the injury of Gen. Gaines has been sought by tine administration, with which he is said not to be in high favor. You will recollect, he was invested with discretionary powers as far as the of Dragoons, from Fort Gibson arrived abouttiie first of this month at Nacogdoches, whereconcerned; and it may be very convenient for the Adrninistiation to disparage his discretion should atfairs turn out diffi renily from what they hope, and thereby enable to slip out of a discreditable piece of business.”*BOSTON SLAVK CASE.The extraordinary interest which the case excited will commend the opinion lo every reader, especially after the following: evidence ot the feeling wnich prevails on the subject in the Sant!.From the (Geo) Sentinel.OUTRAGE UPON .sOUi'uERN RIGHTS.We furnish our readers this morning with a decision which gives an entire new fe ature lo the slave question, it has just been decided by the supreme c urt of Massachusetts, that a slave carried in!o that state hy his owner, becomes eo ins!anti free! Want think you of that, people of the south. If a southerner carries a servant or a nurse with him into the state of Massachusetts, the highest judicial tribunal of that state is ready with its writs and processes to wrest that servant from shim and pronounce him u freeman before his face! And then, as if to add the grossest insult to the deepest injury, we are told that this decision is no interference with the rights of the slave holder, but that rather, the carrying of a si *tve in to a state which does not tolerate slavery, is an interference with the laws of that state!
