It was pleasant alike to Mr. Martin and the members of the local lodge of Ktka.More than sixty membera of the Ath ent lodge were present at the meeting at the rooms in the Moia building wherr Mr. Martin was introduced to the local Kiks. At the conclusion of the work of the order at the lodge room Exalted I Knler M. (i. Michael called on Mr. Martin to address the members of Athens lodge, and in doing so, Mr. Martin said that as the representative of the Grand Exalt* d Raler it was a plrasare to him to say that nowhere in Georgia or else where he had visited, had he found a lodgoof Elks superior to Athens lodge.He said the growth of the lodge had been phenominal, and he could not have believed, except by seeing, as he bal seen, that it was possible for so ymng a lodge to l*e so perfect In the work of the order. He congratulated Exalted Rulsr M chael on the high personnel of the local lodge and congratulations were offend the members preseut on the possession of inch an able presiding officer as Athens lodge has in Mr. Michael. The words of praise for the splendid work of Exalted Raler Michael, spoken bj Mr. Martin, drew spontaneous and continued applause, which showed the high esteem in which the local numbers held their presiding officer and their appreciation for his servicesExalted Rnler Walsh.of Atlanta lodge, was present at the meeting and after Mr Martin closed, he was introduced by Mr. Michael as the father of Athens lodg-, this lodge having been Instituted by Atlanta ledge under Mr. Walsh opened by saying that in this instance the child nnlt; greater than the fa'her.He raid it was impossible for a bet | tor lodge to be foaud in the entire country. He also spoke of the high order of the personnel of the Athens lo )ge and closed by saying that at an narly date he wanted the degree team of Athens lodge to visit Atlanta and teach the fathers of Athens lodge how the work shooid be done.The banqaet which followed the | meeting at the lodge was one of the I most delightful evasions of the kind ever witnessed iu Athens.
