A verse of “America” was sung, followed by a brief Thanksgiving by Mrs. M. S. Kenworthy.After the luncheon Mrs. Bayard Baker awarded the medal for being the member in a federated club with the record for the longest, continuous' service, to Miss Winona Newsom, who responded with a clever rhyme.After adjournment to the home of Mrs. Grant Henley, the club came to ! [ order and gave the club collect, followed by the American flag salute. Roll call found 18 members, 2 honorary members and 7 guests present. The resignation of Mrs. Wayne New-cum was presented and accepted and the name of Mrs. Hamil Henley wasadded to the club membership.Mrs. Kenworthy then conducted anExamination” in the form of a pan-tomine and acting on the year’s work and names of books. Mrs. Arthur Winfield showed “Gone With the Wind”; Mrs. Kenworthy, “The Scarlet Letter”; Mrs. Baker, “Goodbye Mr. Chips”; Mrs. Walter Phelps and Miss Abby Clark. “Over the Teacup.”Mrs. Howard Henley. Mrs. Grant Henley and Miss Winona Newsom, “Local Color; Mrs. Harold Ruby, “A Gala Dress”; Mrs. M. S. Kyser. “Window Shopping”; .Mrs. H. W. Propps, “Bread Loaf”; Mrs. Weldon Newlin, “School Days”; Mrs. U. B. Thompson. “Our Town”; Mrs. Phelps, “Keeper of the Light”; Mrs. Sar^h Stager. “The Reindeer”; Mrs. Fred. Howard Henley, first; Mrs. Sarah Stager, second and Mrs. M. S. Kyser. third. Miss Mattie Clark Mrs. Claude Sipe and Mrs. Robert Bishop received honorable mention.Mrs. Sipe, the new president, spoke I briefly and read a request for books and magazines for the state institutions. Plans were made to place the , medal awarded to the late Mrs. ■Clarkson Gause, in the library.The club adjourned to meet onOctober 7th with Mrs. Weldon Newlin.
