GiannaTo PerformMetropolitan Opera soprano Gianna D’Angelo will h • soloist with the Amarillo Symphony at * p.m. Tuesday at the Municipal Auditorium.Miss D Angelo will sing w,ththe Amarillo Symphony Chorus and the orchestra inFrancis Poulenc’s “Gloria.” The artist will also sing theMad Scene from Donizetti'*“Lucia di l.ammermoor.”The singer has been acclaimed both in tho United States and abroad.D’Angelo has had a lifelong interest in music.She was born in Bristol,Conn., and made her debnt at the age of 3 when she sang on a children’s program. When she was 11, she attended her first opera and, it is said, that is when she decided she wanted to he an opera singer.Miss D’Angelo began vocalstudies with Hazel PorterSnow and Jater attended the Jnilli a rd School of Music.There she met Gtiiseppe di Luca and retired from further scholastic training to spend all possible time in intensive work with him until his death in 1930. That same year she went to Italy to study with Toti dalMonte.AnaelonSymphonyFirst op!ortunities in opera occnrred while she was abroad. She made numerous appearances in Rome. Milan, Venice, Palermo, Barcelona,Lisbon and Paris,She was seen in the BBC-TV production of “The Barber of Seville,” and sang for I heopening of »he Wiesbaden International Festival, whichwas televised across Europe.She has appeared over American television on the“Telephone Hour and “The Voice of Firestone.”Tickets for the Tuesday concert are available at Cooper n.
