JIMMY Pate is getting a lot of publ ic ity about his so-called pure -bred alligator ranch, whereas the real alligator rancher is Arvel Ponton.Or, tp be more accurate, hisdaughter Jan.A couple of weeks ago The Avalanche carried a picture of Jimmy Pate and Avalanche Ranch News Editor Hallie Stillwell nervously inspecting a little alligator. TTie beast was loaned to Jimmy by Arvel Ponton to go along with the gag that Jimmy has been raising alligators.It all began last August during the big rainy season. When Hallie asked Jirnmy about the rains on his ranch, Jimmy invented his alligators.* * * *DON'T be too sure that there aren't alligatjcw on the Pate ranch ojr, anywhere else in Alpine and jfc'inity, however.Jack Williams remembers that his children had a pet 'gator a few years ago.
