Maine Summer Resort IsPortland, Me., .June 3—Fire which raced along the waterfront of Peaks Island, Casco Bay summer resort late yesterday wiped out a score of buildings, including a hotel, and threatened to sweep the entire island before it was brought under con-. tjrol by apparatus sent from this city. Estimates placed the damage at $73,0(H). The Union House,*a 30-rootn hotel, several stores, the Brackett homestead, one of the oldest buildings on the island and I 7 summer cottages were destroyed. Fireengines from Portland were ferried to the scene.
