Funeral of Mrs. Kirchoffer.(From ThursdayDally.)The funeiai of Mrs. VV. G. Kirchoffer was held at the home, 1906 Monroe street, Madison, this morning, Rev. E. B. Patterson being the officiating clergyman in charge and giving the principal address. Rev. E. E. Horth offered the opening prayer and Rev. E. C. Dixon the closing one. During the services Rev. W. J. McKay spoke of the deceased as he had known her for a number of years and of her steadfast faith. Mrs. Kirchoffer died on Monday evening at the Mendota hospital.Mrs. Kirchoffer practically mourned herself to death over the loss of her sister, Mrs. Lucy Tompkins Verner, which occurred last spring. This acute melancholia developed into Bright’s disease and erysipelas,and forthe past three weeks she has beenin a semi-conscious state. During the past year she has been to Newport, Rhode Island, Battle Creek sanitarium, out on a farm at Dunn county, and at the Mendota hospital, but there seemed to be no help for her. She was the daughter of Daniel B. and Pauline R. Tompkins of the town of Blooming Grove and was born at that place on May 5,1873, and received hereducation in the Madison schools. On January 4, 1899, she was married to W. G. Kirchoffer of Baraboo, where he held the office of city engineer. In the spring of 1904 they moved to Madison where they have since resided. One little girl was born to them but died at the age of 16 months. Mrs.' Kirchoffer leaves besides her husband, j her mother, Mrs. Pauline Tompkins, and t.vo sisters, the Misses Emily B. and Anna Tompkins, and two brothers, Frank and Julius Tompkins, all of 17 South Fairchild street; a brother, Joseph, of Blooming Grove and asister, Mrs. James Arnold, 402 South ( Mills street.
