Griffin helped his brother-in-law Monday in West Virginia to kill three fine porkers.Mrs. Harry Rowe and daughters, Virginia and Dorothy Marie spent■ L. .7.4ing back upstairs to his bedside his spirit had winged its way to its eternal home. He is sadly missed by a host of friends. He was admired for his quiet, unassuming ways and Iris sterling qualities. The funeral services were held in the Christian Church, Downsville, by his pastor, Rev. W. S. Baker, of St. James. Interment was in Bakers-vilie Cemetery. The pallbearers were friends who had known him from boyhood days; they were: Mr. Grafton Downs, Sr., Simon L. Downey, George Burgun, EmoryFlook, George Downey and Leslie Wakenight. Had he lived until April 10, 1981, he would have been SO years old. Besides his wife, who was Mary Virginia Hemphill, several nieces and nephews survive.Waiter Swope spent the week visiting relatives and friends in Hagerstown.Mr. S. B. Malott assisted Mr. James Miller of Fairplay at butchering. Several fine porkers were slaughtered.Christinas dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. George Gray were; Mr. Lewis and Charles Gray, Hagerstown; Mrs. Mary Hoget, LittleRock, Ark., and Mr. Samuel Fowler, Martinsburg, W. Va.Visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Betts were: MissElla Blanchard, Washington, D. C.;Mr. George Brooks, Hagerstown, and Mrs. Gertie Saum, Halfway.Mrs. S. C. Gossard and daughters.
