ARTHUR I). BAKER is theowner of C. A. Baker Son,building contractor at 1013Liberty St. C. A. Baker moved to Morris in the early 1900’s as carpenter foreman for C. B. Moss, contractor. Baker worked on the Collins Building and the Presbyterian church, lie started his own business soon after these buildings were completed. He built the Cook Building (now Tabler Jewelry) and the Morris Public Library in 1910. Arthur I). Baker, a son,started carpentry work in 1928 working for his father. He joined the business in 1930 and C. A. Baker retired in 1945. Two other sons joined the business from 1945 to 1950. Since 1950 the business has been owned and operated by Arthur Baker. He has not employed additional workers for the past four years, preferring to do small remodeling and repair jobs. Baker and his wife, Maurilla, live at 710 Spruce St. They have two sons, I)r. James A. Baker of Bel Air, Maryland, and Gary L. Baker of Iowa City, Iowa.
