Mrs. William E. Cameron Jr., presided and Mrs. George Schweitzer was in chargeof the program.‘Fifty-five per cent of the children cared for come from divided homes/' said Mrs. Burgess. “The rest of them have various reasons for nursery care, which includes a mother who is employed, or a mother has deserted the family and the father is sole support, or grandparents may be guardians and the parents are away.“There are 10 nursery schools in Long Beach which are sup-ofneeds, such as correction speech, vision and hearing.“The nursery school hours are from 8:30 a. m. to 5:30 p. m.t and the children are furnished luncheon and refreshments, cots for rest and supervised play.“Problems at the present time are the care of servicemen's children/' said the speaker. “We cannot take care of the children if fathers' income 14 above a certain amount.
