Broadcaster here fights 'TemptationBy JANE TRAGER C-T Staff WriterELYRIA TWP. - “The Last Tempation of Christ” is morally and ethically wrong and Christians should protest its showing, says Len Howser, director of operations for WZLE-FM105, asmall Christian radio station whose signal reaches from Sandusky into east Cleveland. Those listening to the station have been encouraged to send for a fact sheet and packet about the movie. On B-3: ‘Temptation1’ publicity making for box office bonanza.“I’d say we’ve sent out several hundred,” Howser said. The material was compiled by Master Media of Highland, Calif., “a conservative watchdog keeping an eye on the film industry,” said Howser. The packet contains “ideas from the script and phone numbers for Universal Studios,” and a petition that can be filledout and sent to Universal, which produced the movie.WZLE objects to the film, Howser said, because “we believe Christ in his totality, theologically, supernaturally, humanistically and historically is revealed in the Bible. Any attempts by this world to add to the character of Christ, especially in the manner of this movie and the novel upon which it is based, is wrong.”He went on:“We’re offended by the fact themovie makes things up about a historical figure- You have to go by the record. And it might cause people who don’t know the story to get the wrong impression.“Historically, Christ didn’t think about sin.”Howser said he felt those whowanted to see the movie had every right to do so and In turn, Christians had every right to protest its showing,“We’re just trying to help the Christian cause and stand up for Christ.
