War of 1812' Theme ofDiscussion atDr. Reginald Horsman,professor of history at theUniversity of Wisconsin*Milwaukee, will talk about “The War of 1812“ when the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society holds its annual spring meeting in Milwaukee on Saturday, Mav 2nd.» mAncestor hunters in this area are invited to attend the meeting, which is open to the public, and will take place in the Audio-Visual Room of the Milwaukee Public Library starting at 10 a.m.A group luncheon, open tonon-members as well as members, will be at 12:30 at the Y M C A. across Wisconsin Avenue from the MilwaukeeLibrary. Reservations arebeing accepted by Miss Edith Malson, 320 E. Montana St., Milwaukee, through Monday, April 27th. Cost of the luncheonis $2.75.The Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, now in its 31st year, is affiliated with the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. According to Mrs.William J. Hurst its president. “The Society is noting a growing interest in searching out one’s ancestors, and is constantly receiving queries from all parts of the United States To encourage local interest in this worthwhile and absorbing activity, the Society last summer held a workshop at the Janesville Public Library,•rand will hold another on Saturday, June 13 at the Oshkosh Public Library. A well-known columnist recentlyWrecommended ancestor hunting for retired and elderly persons as a very entertaining and productive pastime. Membership in the Society is open toanyone who is interested in*starting a search for his ancestors.
