South Point's Hurst Signs With MarshallKenny Hurst, a 6*2 All-Ohio guard this past season at South Point, is the first basketball recruit of 1973 for Marshall University.The signing of Hurst to an inter-conference letter of intent was announced today by Bob Daniels, Thundering Herd head coach.At South Point High School, Hurst was named to the Class AA first team All-Ohio as a senior, after receiving honorable mention as a junior. He was chosen to both the All-Ohio Valley Conference and All-Southeastern District squads for two years and was district player of the year in his final high school season.The 185-pound Hurst, coached at South Point by Mike Hughes, compiled some impressive high school statistics. As a senior he averaged 23.5 points, 10 rebounds and approximately 12 assists per game, and he held a20.6 scoring mark as a junior.He was a member of South Point’s OVC champs for the past two years. The Pointers in 1972 were 18-0 and ranked second in the state, and this past season Hurst’s team had a 13-5 record.Hurst, 17, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hurst of South Point and a brother of Mrs. Harold (Nancy) Roach of Logan.Ranking in the upper quarter of his graduating class at South Point, he plans to major in special education at Marshall.Chieftain Golfers Win Over MeigsThe Logan Chieftain linksmen squared their 1973 season record Monday, rolling over their Meigs counterparts by 29 strokes (173-202) at the Hocking Hills
