Enderby District Notes Builders, Births, and Village Happenings

Enderby reports new pool table in Mr. Lemke's butcher shop, a large warehouse near the Rogers Lumber Co. office, and a handsome residence near Fred Stevens. A daughter blessed Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Blanchard. Calendars and Christmas flowers are distributed by merchants and the Vernon florist. Miss Beattie returns from Kamloops for holidays. Mayor Bell presides at BC Municipalities. John Simpson leaves for Washington. Postmaster Harvey reports a Christmas rush. H. Byrnes plans a three week break. Roberts Gillard Company performs three nights of shows. Battye the Vernon tuner thanks clients as he leaves Magen-Risch Co.

Spallumcheen Farmers Institute Annual Meeting Notice

The General Annual Meeting of the Spallumcheen Farmers Institute will be held in the old I.O.F. hall in Armstrong on Wednesday January 5 1910 at 2 o’clock p m to receive the President’s report and the financial statement. Election of Officers for 1910. W P Horsley president John B Bird secretary.

Poultrymen Meeting Discusses Show Conditions and Finances

Secretary Lanaway chaired the meeting with Lanaway Waddell Pound and others. President Colier urged leaving special prizes open to attract outsiders and scheduling the show for November or January for better bird condition. The December 18 report showed satisfactory finances but a small deficit due to higher show costs and low gate receipts. a plan to pay all outstanding accounts and balance with local exhibitors was approved.

Enderby Apple Exhibit Satisfactorily Endorsed

Mr Geo R Lawes organized a 30 box Enderby apple exhibit titled B 2 Oe, to be shown in November 1909. Letter to donors thanks them for patronage and notes a report from Mr Scott about the Deputy Minister of Agriculture returning mid January. Acknowledges Victoria Hospital donation for furnishings and updates Vernon Jubilee Hospital buildings.

Provincial bursaries on outlaws bounty list issued by Vernon agent

Government Agent Norris of Vernon British Columbia explains bounty payments for outlaws and birds of prey. Bounties: Big horned Owls two dollars, Golden Eagles three, Coyotes three, Wolves fifteen, Panthers fifteen. Skin must be presented with ear notch or pelt destroyed. Big horned Owls entire. Golden Eagles legs sent to Provincial Game Warden Bryan Williams in Vancouver for certificate and payout.

Mrs Waddell Dominates Winter Poultry Show With Prizes

Mrs F C Waddell entries at the Winter Poultry Show totaled 31 not 40 as previously stated. She captured 10 first prizes 8 second prizes and ten special prizes including four cups. Also notes the Odd Fellows ball New Year’s Eve at the K of P hall.
