Plane Takes Off After Assistance From Volunteer Air Corps

Members of the Volunteer Air Observers Corps helped an aircraft make a successful take-off after a forced landing 12 miles from Goulburn New South Wales. The plane piloted by Flight Sergeant J B Fairweather carried 45 passengers Corporal J C L McLean, both of the Royal Australian Air Force. After a hot engine and low oil pressure, the Zone Officer arrived with oil and lightened the aircraft to enable a safe take-off.

Air travel to carry 20 million passengers yearly

Methodist Concert Delights Large Local Audience

A Monday night Methodist Girly Comradeship concert filled the Sunday School Hall with a large crowd. The program featured songs, recitations, violin and organ solos, and camp fire choruses with encore numbers. Mrs A J Dempsey thanked participants and helpers, noting the strong support and effort of the committee and soloists.

Old hats given away in bungled theft case

A Coolamarara store manager described old hats found in a bungled alteration plot as vintage eighties wear. Police noted the threat resembled a past era item. The court spared a heavy penalty, and the hats were donated to the Red Cross after the hearing.
