The Director of Rationing Mr J B Cumming says most Australians show honesty by returning lost Food Ration Books and Clothing Cards. About 5000 people have done so in a year, aiding record-keeping and replacements. He urges lost books be returned to the State Deputy Director of Rationing, not directly to owners, to avoid duplicate issues.
Obituary recalls Thomas Davies Haines known as T A D Davies a bushman of the Upper Macleay. Born in Queensland he earned fame for taming wild cattle and bullock acts at Comara and Carrai stockyards. He managed Garvin and Cousins property and saved supplies during floods. Survived by four sons and several daughters, funeral held at Neilbrook with interment at the Church of England cemetery.
