Proclamation by Theodore I appoints Corsican regents and aid

A dated proclamation from Sartena November 14 1736 appoints governors in chief to rule during Theodore I king of Corsica's absence, urges loyalty, warns against opposition, and notes the seal and private letters from the Hague explain recent misunderstandings between Cardinal Fleury and Dutch minister Van Hoey. It also recounts a London incident of two boys stealing shoes in Tothill Street and a spate of threatening letters linked to arson fears in Café Money.
