Twenty-Four Surveyors Planned for Gravesend Outward Passages
The Corre of Dicett OT and partners announce hiring twenty-four surveyors to Gravesend for watching outward bound ships and deterring clandestine trade. They will board ships as they come into the Downs and remain until cleared. Also noted are pardons for felons to enter royal service, and various European war and political dispatches from Frankfurt, Paris, Vienna, and beyond, with local civic notices and marriage announcements intermingled.
