Investiture of the Margrave of Brandenburg Anspach
A lengthy report from a London gazette describes the British king’s gifting of the Order of the Garter to the Margrave of Brandenburg Anspach. It details the ceremony in the great hall, the appointments of the commissioners, the regalia, oaths, and processions, with mentions of the Westminster and Brandenbourg-Anspach arms, speeches by Hanbury Williams and Seckendorff, and the cannons’ discharge. Other items note ships, earthquakes, health quarantines, political travels, and various European dispatches.
