Ballycastle Harbour Work and School for Poor Children
In Ballycastle, 1738 reports mention a new harbour mole advancing into the sea to aid coal exports, under Hugh Boyd and Mr Stears. The Charter School there educates 25 pupils, teaching reading, religion, and linen weaving, with both boys and girls learning crafts and farm work, improving lives of children from various faiths and regions.
