Letters from Gibraltar describe prize taken by Algerine corsairs

The letter from Gibraltar reports multiple naval successes and captures. Frigates in the station seized French West Indiamen and other ships bound for the Straits, with cargoes of sugar, cotton, coffee, and indigo. Privateers and armed vessels claimed prize of two French ships, a large ship from St. Neethingo, and a ship from Martisio to Brest, among others. The report also notes dockside looms of shipments and ongoing naval patrols near Voulau and Cowes.

Charitable Contributions to Donacarry or Pintona in 1778

A report by Mr Skelton rector details weekly aid to the poor of Donacarry Pintona during summer 1778. It notes meal provisions sold under market price and free rations, yielding 22 tun g4 hundred at 16l 13s 4d per tun to ease distressed poor and stabilize prices. It invites imitation and records managers’ intent to continue. It also includes land dispositions and estate notices for Belan and adjacent lordships with farm, building, and development opportunities.

Harsh Gale Delays and Returns Among Port Movements
