Turnpike Proposal Rejected by Dublin Baronies Meeting
In Dublin 1814 a public meeting chaired by Robert Bhaw M P mayor of Dublin rejected turning the Baronies of Newcastle and Vine Ctow into turnpike districts. The decision cites cost and repair needs with assurances to levy funds to cover anticipated expenses and involve inhabitants in future arrangements. No action to fund or establish turnpikes will proceed without further agreement.
