Outrage in Limerick County Northern Ireland style band raid
A disturbing account from Limerick recalls a small armed group forcing entry at Curragh the home of Sir Aubrey De Vore Hunt and seizing a matchlock and a blunderbuss. The raiders later ranged the area burning doors and windows, while a large mob crossed from Kerry into Newcastle and Churchtown in a bid to plunder and burn. A 40th Regiment intervention scattered the marauders as villagers endure terror and theft of arms. Local posts report arrests and the hunt for others implicated in the murder of John Corneal, with officials promising justice and Postmasters General offering rewards for bandit apprehension. The piece notes community efforts to patrol roads and curb violence, including bishopric sermons on restraint and public safety.

Mr O Connell's Fur Cap Letter From 1881
A fragmented letter from 1881 features Mr O Connell denying any claim of obtaining a fur cap from the King. The writer appeals to the public or a recipient to reject rumors and insists on clarity and honesty about the source of the cap. The tone is formal and self-justifying, addressing accusations and defending personal integrity.
