In committee on Ways and Means the land tax of four shillings in the pound was resolved to be laid on lands tenements for 1784. Duties on mail, ale, cider, and perry to be continued for 1784. A bill for taxing Mum ale cider and perry in Britain from June 1784 to June 1785 was brought in. A motion to examine illicit practices affecting revenue was supported and a 15 member committee to review it was appointed. Adjourned to Monday. Lottery benefit tickets drawn at Guildhall for 1783 with several numbers listed.
