London Gazette War Office notices 1779 Dragoon Guards list

Volunteers of Ireland parade in Dublin on King William III anniversary

In Dublin College Green a grand display by County and City volunteer corps celebrated King William III's birth anniversary. Units wore scarlet and blue uniforms, with banners and three volleys fired. Appointment of Stormont as Secretary of State

At the Court at St James's on October 27 1779 the King in Council appointed David Viscount Stormont as a Principal Secretary of State and he was sworn in accordingly. Reports from Barbary claim Royal ships sunk several vessels and transports disabled in a landings attempt, with the tale spreading by way of Barbary.
