Captain Parry’s Polar Journal Excerpts Amid Arctic Encounters
Extracts recount Captain Parry and crew on their voyage into the Polar Sea. They describe first contact with Inuit-like peoples, the long ice-filled inlet, naming of Wellington Channel, Cape Hotham, Cornwallis Island, and Barrow Strait. Observations cover anatomy, dress, tools, barter, and the evolving mood as ships face pack ice and shifting conditions. The narrative blends exploration, humor, and risk amid the northern frontier.
