Emancipation Debate on Catholic Peers at Westminster

A heated debate recounts Mr Wilmot and other peers arguing for or against concessions to Roman Catholics. The discussion covers coronation oaths, securities, and the danger of Catholic influence, with references to historical events from Elizabeth I to William III and testimonies from Lords such as Forster, Wynn, and Londonderry. The passage notes the division in the House and the broader question of Catholic civil rights in Ireland and Britain.

Ballycamank farm improvement near Cashel noted

A letter to the Dublin Journal describes a Ballycamank farm estate of about 200 acres in Darby’s estate tenanted by Mr Power. The writer admires a new lime kiln with capacity of 170 to 180 barrels per week, a large marble stone with Trish characters, and an expansive double ditch system with thousands of trees planned. The project aims to convert the farm into productive gardens, pasture, and meadow, with 20 divisions and extensive timber planting to provide employment and deter unrest.
