Dublin Journal notes the Talbot Steam Pacuat reached Howth full of passengers after a rapid Channel crossing. Sails that night to Holyhead, with London Parzas expected to arrive in Howth this evening. Also reports on British goods in Spain and a new British flag incident near Gibraltar.
France reports that on Friday the Chamber of Peers unanimously passed the Project of Law on the Ways and Means. The Kitrogen of the Leave then notified to the Chamber under the royal ordinance of March 25, 1817 ten new letters patent of peerage, conferred on listed nobles: the Marquises de Gouvion St Cyvi de Louvais de la Seize and de Barsyrum. Counts de la Bovavonnava Brockssac de Damascus Lansurnais de Cupiseun-Gourrice da Castuutane. and Viscount Maruteu da Mons, MCMENCK.
Letters from St Helena dated May 22 report Bonaparte in a similar health state as before. Madrid dispatches June 7 note the Florida settlement treaty ratification doubts and possible appointment of a foreign minister. Cadiz mentions the 80 gun ship awaiting decision on the Florida treaty. Cadiz reports 18,000 troops to be transported. Prussia may unveil a constitution. Hesse Darmstadt tax turmoil causes violence as peasants resist.
London letters report a further advance in the funds with Bank of England actions eyed by the Exchange and directors. Markets close firm with notable stock levels and a racing scene in Hyde Park includes Lord Byron, Eliza, Mary Anne, and an Arabian mare, Mary M’Guhil, amid charity stakes.
The London Star reports authorities enroll over 10,000 inhabitants as special constables for the occasion. Light Horse Volunteers and artillery are ordered to assemble, with thousands of troops to guard the metropolis and aid civil power if needed. City palaces warned to be vigilant and sober, with constables instructed on conduct.
Leeds States reports a meeting of Radical Reformers at Wackeliald in the West Riding ended in violent disagreement and broke up without agreement on reform goals. Earl Fitzwilliam was accused of neglect. rumors circulated of armed force and civil power being used to restore order.
